Tax Credits for

Historic Properties

Any property built over 50 years ago has the potential to qualify for state income tax credits for maintenance and rehabilitation, but many property owners are unaware that they qualify for these credits.

Under the New Mexico State Income Tax for Registered Cultural Properties program, historic property owners may earn a tax credit for 50% of the costs of pre-approved projects for a maximum annual credit of $25,000.

Eligible projects include:

  • Roof repair and replacement

  • Stabilization of foundation and walls

  • Repair of historic windows

  • Rehabilitation of exterior woodwork

  • Replacement of broken or out-of-code mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems

We determine your property's status and navigate the entire application process for you.
